About the event
Saxophonist Paul van Kemenade (1957) will end his career in the course of this year. I think it is time for something else,' says the figurehead of the Tilburg jazz scene. But before that happens, the saxophonist is going to have a blast for a few more months, including with his most popular group: Paul van Kemenade Classic Quintet. Jeroen van Vliet (piano), Eric van der Westen (bass), Pieter Bast (drums) and Louk Boudesteijn (trombone) are part of the band that signed for unforgettable albums and concerts and was active all over the world. So tonight in Paradox is your chance to see this legendary quintet live once again.
With his lyrical and beautiful, slightly abrasive sound on alto, Paul van Kemenade became one of the most recognizable saxophonists in the Netherlands. Among other awards, he won the Boy Edgar Prize and toured extensively in South Africa. The latter can be heard in the music of his Classic Quintet in which European jazz, chamber music and South African melodies flow together in a catchy way.
