About the event

Canadian tenor and soprano saxophonist Seamus Blake is a "musician's musician. "His sound and phrasing are strong, surprising and virtuosic. His style is very much his own, he plays with great imagination and is brimming with a love of the jazz tradition.... He was part of John Scofield's Quiet Band and played on no less than six albums by the Mingus Big Band, all nominated for Grammy Awards. He was part of drummer Antonio Sánchez's Migration Band. He played and recorded albums with Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Randy Brecker, Michael Brecker, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Dave Douglas, Joe Lovano and Jack DeJohnette. With his own band, The Bloomdaddies (including Jorge Rossy and Chris Cheek), he also performed at Paradox. In 2002 he won the Thelonious Monk Competition in Washington and subsequently performed with Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock. He is currently touring major stadiums worldwide with Pink Floyd's Roger Waters.

He plays during the Tilburg Sax Summit with a concert by his trio with bassist Zack Lober, also Canadian, and Dutch drum prodigy Jamie Peet.
