The Art of the Duo During this Saturday evening of the Tilburg Sax Summit 2026, two duos take the stage in which the saxophone shines in very distinct ways.
Saxophonist Mete Erker hardly needs an introduction in Tilburg. Recently, he presented his new double LP with his quartet to a sold-out audience at Paradox. This time, Erker performs with singer/pianist Lavalu. As a duo, they play each other’s compositions, where Lavalu’s singer-songwriter approach and Erker’s jazz background beautifully complement one another.
A completely different musical color is brought by Mexican bassist and singer Fuensanta Méndez and Portuguese alto saxophonist José Soares. The latter performs regularly at Paradox and was recently heard with Carlos Bica and the Franz von Chossy Group. With his delicate sound and fluid virtuosity, he is considered one of the most interesting saxophonists in Europe. Fuensanta weaves together atmospheric playing with poetry and folklore.
